The Barrow mass balance site is installed at the begining of each ice season on first-year, landfast sea ice offshore of Niksiuraq, the hook at the end of the road to Point Barrow, Alaska. Ice thickness, sea level, snow depth, and air and ice temperature are measured throughout the ice season. Mass balance data are updated hourly and available on the internet in near-real time.
